Signs that EGR needs to be changed

Would the EGR valve cause the rpm's to go all the way into the red when I turn the car on?

Check the throttle postiton sensor

Sounds like the throttle is sticking, Probably should have it towed to a shop because the red area means that it revving too high and could blow the engine or cause a accident if it sticks while driving. You can find a shop here www.repairpal.com/directory
