Serpentine belt keeps coming off.

Serpentine belt keeps coming off.

(1999 Buick Regal)
Replaced belt. Ran fine for about two weeks. Then it came off again. I checked all pulleys to make sure they were not wobbly and spun freely. So I replaced the idler pulley and serpentine belt, again. Ran fine for about 3 or 4 days then the belt came off again.put the belt back on and now the belt comes off with in a minute. But I notice the pulley on the altenator was real hot. Replaced the alternator and got a new idler pulley and new belt. I made sure there was no grease or fluids on all pulleys. I got a new idler pulley, belt and altenator. No pulleys are wobbly every thing clean and dry. And still the belt is coming off. I'm stumped.

I don't see anywhere in your post that this belt TENSIONER ASSEMBLY has been replaced... Is this what you are referring to as the "idler pulley"..? Google > NAPA 6601009 Look at picture... That $90.00 part usually takes care of belt run-off for the 3.8 engine.. This is a different part than you're thinking about, so if you'll just take the time look at the picture, you'll see what I mean... That's up to you! ... Good luck with it!

Yes that is what I meant. I replaced the tensioner assembly twice. The second time I changed it was just in case the first one was defective. And bythe way thanks for the quick rresponse.
