Started about two months ago and now brakes are very hard to depress.

poss brake booster leaking internally

Have your brake booster checked. If there is any sign of fluid leakage between it and the brake master cylinder , replace the master cylinder also. Make sure it is properly diagnosed FIRST , before replacing any parts!
