code 340 car does not have cam sensor. starts hard after ten minutes car runs great

If P0340 is an active code, which it sounds like it is, check for signs of misfire. If there is a misfire (runs terrible???), check the wiring harness to the EI (ignition) module and to the PCM. Make sure the connections are clean and tight. I would unplug, inspect, and plug them back in. Recheck. If the problem still occurs, it could need a new EI module.

There is an actual pin point test that goes through inspections using a diagnostic tool for this operation; it's best to refer to that prior to replacing any parts.

Also, if there is no misfire, and there is a cam sensor code, you could have plugs or wires in question too. Check all the basics.
