RPM at 2200 doing 60 MPH

(2001 Hyundai Sonata)
The RPM on my car is at 2200 RPMs when I am doing 60 MPH. I would think the RPM would be around 1800 to 1900 RPMs. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Is there an overdrive on/off button or power switch that could change the gear ratio?

No there is no overdrive button. Yes the RPM's were lower before at that speed. It sounds like the engine is working to hard at 60 MPHs or higher.

Were the rpm's lower before? was it running at 1800-1900 previously?

It's hard to say what exactly is going on. I'm assuming it's an automatic so I'd start with checking the transmission fluid level. Do you have any warning lights illuminated like your check engine light?

Does it feel like you're down on power? Does it feel like the transmission is slipping?
pretty normal for me - 2250 @ 65 on the interstate
