I have for this car 5 years the car had 5500 miles on it when I first bought it. A little grandma owned this vehicle. The car sat for a long time, never was used that often. I paid $12,000 For this car, the car was like brand-new. she paid $46,000 dollars for it new. The only thing I put into it was a new battery. The battery in the car at the time was five years old, did not want to take a chance. So I changed it. And later on in time I had to put an air blower for the catalytic converter under the drivers Side front bumper. Not expensive at all. The interior still had the new car smell. Which surprised the heck out of me being that the car was five years old at the time. Everything and I mean everything on the car was original. now came the problems, the engine had 39,000 miles on it. After I had the oil changed started to leak, it was six months and 1500 miles after the oil change that I noticed the passenger side front of the engine started to leak oil. Maybe it's the filter or the oil pan plug gasket. I don't know, but I will find out tomorrow because I'm going to get under the car to find out exactly where it's coming from. Also I had replaced all the brakes and the rotors at 40,000 miles. I think it's too soon, I think I should have gotten more miles out of the brakes. The brakes were original equipment when the car was manufactured. Now the passenger-side rear airshock is leaking like crazy to my surprise I never had An air shock like this go so soon with only 40,000 miles on it I am replacing both tomorrow. I can't complain about what I have to do now. I got the car at a fantastic price. The car was like new and for what I paid I cannot complain what I am complaining about is the oil leak that started, the engine is still like brand new, the rear airshock is leaking like crazy and the brakes went to soon and what I mean went to soon, metal to metal there was no indication on the dashboard to tell me this. I had to find out from listening and the feel of the car.
i have a 2005 deville with over 221,000 miles. we bought this car new and i have to say it has been well worth the money. i've never had any major issues with this car. i've had routine maintenance done, such as brakes and such, and we change the oil every 3-5000 miles and had the transmission flushed about every 60-80,000 miles. i use synthetic oil and swear by this oil. i've had to replace the a/c compressor once, the alternator once, battery once, 2 coil packs and a coil rail, and a wheel hub. other than that i guess i've had a pretty good car. i have to add 1 quart of oil about every 3000 miles which i've been told is normal. i am starting to notice a shifting problem and now that i have read up on this, it must be a typical problem. i used to take my car to the dealer(rip off) for regular maintenance when it was under warranty, but when that ended at 100,000 miles, i take it to my local repair shop. not everyone wants to work on these cars. my mechanic has been great and honest. hard to find nowadays. i just replaced the original spark plugs ( yes, i said original). why fix something that's not broke. i probably could have went more miles with those, but i figured it was about time. everyone around my town tells me that the north star engines are throw aways because they cost so much to either replace or repair and they usually don't last over 120,000 miles. i guess i picked a good one. i will buy another one if and when i have to. i'm worried tho that i won't get as good as one as this one. p.s., i also have an 03 chevy silverado truck with 285,000 miles on it.
I have a 2005 that I've driven for 167k miles with nothing more than brakes and tires to be changed. I change the oil about every 4k and mainly run on highways with the cruise control. Best car that I've owned.
