Replacement fuel pump

(2000 Dodge Viper)
in Silver Spring, MD on April 15, 2010

Fuel pump fails ag 80,000. Two replacements from 2 different sources are the same. Both different in design from OEM. Mechanic does not think replacement will work. Has there been a change in design?

I see no bulletin or TSB about different fuel pumps or upgraded pump, the system spec is 55 psi fuel pressure 130 approx dead head fuel pressure.

Well, you might want to get the tech to check to electrical portion of the fuel system, such as the fuel pump fuse relay, wiring, and ECU, to see if the pump is getting power and ground. And then check the fuel lines, filter, and the fuel pressure.
