I went in for a basic oil change and filter. Picked up the car and was told the hood chrome trim broke loose. They tried to glue the trim back on, and a very poor job at that. This car is a 2012 and not a beater, so I am now having to replace the part.

My experience at Rick's Automotive was nothing less than what I've come to expect -- courteous, honest, and quick. I scheduled my car for a winterization check ($98) and likewise informed them that my rear passenger tire was leaking air and would need to be patched. Rick's completed the winterization check, which included changing the oil, filter, rotating the tires, checking all the fluid levels, checking the battery and alternator, and several other things. They also patched up my tire. My car is advancing in age and miles (a 2010 Nissan Versa with right around 90k), so these checks are very important to me to make sure I remain in good shape.
They delivered everything inside of 90 minutes. As my last trips have yielded, there was no attempt to upsell me on any superfluous service. I trust them to be honest and efficient, and they always deliver.

Ricks is always my go to place for car service or repair - I had reached out to them to get their throughs and opinions prior to purchasing a new used car for our family. They gave me great guidance and we found a wonderful car to replace our 14-year-old car that they had previously serviced. I took the new car in to have the oil change tires rotated and a state inspection. It all took about an hour. And to make it even easier you can make your appointment online and they will take you to and from your home or work.

Not happy. I asked about checking for vibration in the steering wheel and was brushed off with being told to bring it in another time for diagnostic tests. It's very hard to get time to bring it in and coordinate with other activities. He could have asked a few questions and shown some interest in helping me. I would have liked to have the tires rotated but it was too hard to talk to the guy. Waiting room was comfortable.

Sometimes have to start in drive
Typically reverse & manual low are not electronically controlled. This is usually an issue with low fluid level, air being drawn around a cracked filter or internal mechanical internal failure such as the planetary gear failure. Step by step diagnosis would be to inspect coolant level. If coolant is low, refill cooling system & confirm heater operation at this point. If heat is still weak after filling system test operating temperature of engine with a pyrometer. If engine temperature does not come up to 190 degrees (or manufacturer's specification) replace the thermostat & retest. If engine temperature is coming up to normal test both heater hose temperatures. They should be fairly close in temperature. If not , inspect for a heater control valve malfunctioning (most late model vehicles do not use a heater control valve). If valve tests good or no valve exists the heater core is restricted. Back flushing the heater core may be an option.
Typically there will be engine over heating issues if the water pump impeller is failing.
What's wrong and where do I start?
Start with inspecting the fuses, check fuse #4 and #15. The multi-function switch is the controller for both the turn signals and the flashers, along with a directional flasher unit. These fuses supply voltage to the switch. If a fuse is bad (popped) then it is possible there could be a wiring issue or shorted bulb. If the fuses are good then the fault is likely a component failure and will require circuit testing.
