Wonderful people. Very honest about what repairs need and do not need immediate attention. I trust them completely.

They did a great job at explaining what was wrong and the steps that were taken to repair. I felt very comfortable with the service.

We have been visiting Auto Japan with our Toyota and two Acura's for years. Great service and very trustworthy.

by November 15, 2012

I could get some things done cheaper elsewhere, but I trust my car with Auto Japan, which to me is worth paying a little bit extra

I was a walk-in and Vaughn & his team got me in even though I could tell they were busy. They are honest & really know what they are doing! I won't go anywhere else for my Honda & Lexus!

by November 13, 2012

The people are all very kind and helpful.

by - Verified Customer November 09, 2012

Vaughn and his team quickly identified the root cause of my concern and provided a small list of additional preventative maintainance concerns on my 10+ year old Honda. They prioritized the additional concerns to conduct a repair that was within my budget. My car was returned to me on the same day.

by - Verified Customer November 09, 2012

The folks take time to explain all the repairs and educate the consumer. Very gracious.

by - Verified Customer November 01, 2012

Autojapan is very much appreciated by me, and by one other family member - my daughter.

by October 31, 2012

High mark up on parts.

by October 31, 2012

very nice attentive personal service, reasonable charge for labor, but expensive on parts

by October 30, 2012

They hand you a 20% off coupon after you spend a whole lot. Makes you feel like you got ripped off since they had the ability to bring the price down 20%.

by October 28, 2012

The dogs in the office are very cute.

by October 25, 2012

Very honest and reliable interaction. Thanks!

by - Verified Customer October 25, 2012

In addition to the excellent repair service, the kind consideration of the owner and staff in providing a loaner car added to my peace of mind.. they are outstanding!

I LOVE the service, the people, the courtesy and the friendliness. I do recommend you all. And the dogs are a special treat!

by - Verified Customer October 18, 2012

Quick service, they take the time to explain the repair, don't try to sell you repair you don't need.

by October 17, 2012

It is rare that I have any problem with Auto Japan. The only problem I had was confusion on a clerks part about pick up time. I wasn't called as promised.

by - Verified Customer October 16, 2012

They thoroughly explain problems and resolutions prior to work. Small and last minute "happenings" are repaired on the spot when possible. The wait room is comfortable with freshly brewed tea/coffee and 2 great dogs to make the wait like being at home in my living room - except I have cats!! For a single gal - I have total faith in what they tell me.

by - Verified Customer October 15, 2012

They do great work, great follow up, very friendly and competent, and we love the dogs in the office...very happy with the whole experience

by - Verified Customer October 15, 2012

by - Verified Customer October 10, 2012

Auto Japan is in a class by itself--honest, dependable, always goes the extra mile, extremely clean shop, great customer service and excellent automotive repair knowledge. Can't say enough good things about them.

by October 09, 2012

Very honest, hard-working and competent. Usually feels expensive but maybe I'm out of touch with standard fees. I like that they're a small shop, but a shuttle service or loaner car would make it a much easier experience.

by - Verified Customer October 09, 2012

Repairs or maintenance issues are recommended to make sure you can safely take the road at any time with full confidence. I wouldn't take my vehicles anywhere else.

After having my brakes repaired, which was a fine experience, I asked for a 'check up' and maintenance that I had deferred for years. The verdict was that the car needed a new steering rack, valve cover replacement and change of brake and clutch fluid. This was to cost $1300. When I arrived, the 'check engine' light was on, and the owner charged me $100 to put his little reader on it. In the past, it had been attributed to the gas cap by Marin Mitsubishi, who offered to read it for free. The price was price had gone up to $1500 before repairs had even begun. I received a call about an hour later saying it needed a new throttle sensor for over $300 and a new spark plug wire. I told them no. I was mad that they hadn't checked the dang spark plugs in the first place...isn't that like 'B' of the ABCs of tune-up? The owner let his phone answering guy drive my car (can you spell 'liability'?) over to pick me up and he refused to get out of the driver seat of MY car for the ride back, so I rode as a passenger in my own car. An item in my car had been flung under the front seat, and I understood why on the drive back..he drove like a mad person on the way back to the shop, even honking at other drivers not once, but twice. I was mortified that someone I knew would see me in the car with this guy. The owner let me write him a check for over $1500 ( w brake job, he got nearly $2000 of my money) and drive away from his shop with my check engine light still on. He told me if it started blinking to pull over immediately! My trust in them was totally shattered. The car sounded really weird the next time I drove it...on the 1.5 hr drive over Hwy 175 ( winding, 2-lanes, sheer drop off the side). I was afraid to drive it home it sounded so strange. I drove to the only garage open on a Saturday and two men in Lakeport at Mackey Tire center drove my car, put it up on the hydraulic lift to check it, re-read the check engine light and then turned it off for me ALL FOR FREE! My jerk at Auto Japan couldn't do that for a customer who had just paid him nearly $2K. When the light came back on about a month later, I took it to Callagy Automotive. He checked the light (FREE again) and changed the spark's been fine ever since. I will never go back to Auto Japan.

My guess is that the cylinder head valves were bent or damaged when the timing belt broke. That damage must be repaired in order for the compression to be restored. It will not fire/start without enough cylinder compression.

There is a service bulletin regarding this complaint/concern, but it pertains to vehicles used or exposed to areas where heavy road salt is used. Customers have noticed increased steering effort and noise from the steering column intermediate shaft for 2002-2005 Sedona. The cost to install this updated part if that is the source of the noise is about $267.72 . Hope this is of help. Vaughn @ Auto Japan

Have someone diagnose whether the engine is not getting spark to the spark plugs or its lack of fuel or lack of compression, this engine does have a timing belt that may have broke. If it did the engine will crank over abnormally fast and there will be no compression. It will never start. Have it checked, a tech should be able to diagnose the problem for you.
