Questions Answered by Convoy Auto Repair
Brake Shoe Fair Charge on 2000 Toyota Echo
Good question. In the handling of used brake pads and/or shoes they are considered hazardous waste as they may contain asbestos. Each shop independently decides how they chose to handle this material. Some pay to have them hauled away and some get paid to have them hauled away. If the fee was part of the total parts and labor quote you authorized (less sales tax) then it is perfectly legitimate. If it was added to the final bill is is not.
My Car Runs Rough. I Have A P0301(Cylinder 1 Misfire) Error Code. I Have Changed The Sparkplugs, Switched The Coil, And Have Used About A Half A Tank Of Gas That Has Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner In It And Still Have A P0301 Error. Fuel Injector? on 1998 Toyota 4Runner
PO301 (Cylinder 1 misfire) can be caused by many different causes many of which requires testing to get to the root causes. Replacing the spark plugs is alway a good idea from a maintenance viewpoint and if simple a easy test to see if one of the plugs may be the problem. After that I would recommend to have your vehicle tested and not to spend additional time and expense for parts that may not fix the problem.
Air Bag Light Stays On Dangerious ? on 2000 Hyundai Elantra
Yes, I would consider it dangerous. The light is warning the driver that in the event of a accident the air bag may not deploy. This, depending on the accident will lead to potential serious injuries to the driver and/or passengers
Car Doesn't Start on 2004 Honda CR-V
Based on the fact that the engine cranks eliminates the battery as a problem. Most likely it is some type of input signal that has gone bad or a fuel problem. Either way the vehicle will need to be diagnosed to make the correct repair recommendation.
Front End Shimmie Between 65 And 70 Miles Per Hour on 2006 Ford F-150
When the shimmie is not present under that speed and goes away above that speed is almost always tire related. My recommendation is to have you tires inspected by Discount Tire, Balance as/if needed. Then if you still have concerns it will need inspected by a repair facility
Exhaust Manifolds on 2000 Toyota Tundra
All the national labor guides show 7.0 hour per side. The manuals all describe that cylinder head removal is required. I have just recently completed a left side manifold replacement on a 4.7 Tundra and there is a way to remove the manifold without removing the cylinder head. It is still quite difficult but can be accomplished in half the time and at a substantial savings over “book time”
David
Is Cost For Replacement Plastic Radiator Tank $268.85 Plus Labor $172.50 Fair? on 2000 Toyota Solara
This is a very reasonable price. It is on the low side of the Estimator if you use that as a range guideline. Be sure the products and labor have at least a 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty.
My Buick Century Is Smoking From Hood on 1993 Buick Century
Your description indicates that the vehicle will need to be towed for diagnosis and repairs. Based on your detailed description their are multiple possibilities may of which would not actually be considered major. If we can be of service we can be reached at 858-560-9131. David
Passenger Window Is Not Working on 2001 Mazda Miata MX-5
Always a hard question. Testing the vehicles power and grounds to the actual window switch is step #1. This verifies that the fuses are good, the wiring from the fuse panel to the switch is good and that the switch itself is good. Assuming all those test out the next step is to remove the door panel to test the window motor, inspect the regulator and make the final determination on what does need to be repaired.
To Find Out What I Can Do About/Fix My P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected on 2000 Hyundai Tiburon
The PO303 will need to be diagnosed. You could have a compression problem and/or a no spark condition on that cylinder. Based on your description of "loss of power" I would start with a compression test on all four cylinders wet and dry to verify the internal integrity of the valves and piston so you can eliminate any problem there. Then if the compression is good I would move onto checking the spark on cylinder #3.
