The guys we re great I brought my car in last minute for a much needed brake repair and they did everything they could to get me in and out the same day, the were super reasonable and awesome to work with.

I trust these guys. They don't seem to be hurting for business, so I know they aren't suggesting repairs to come up with work to do. I got bad news about my car, but it's not their fault.

Precision Tune has the best deal for a synthetic oil change. I went on a Saturday and it did take longer than normal because there were only two guys in the shop, but for the great price I'm willing to wait a little longer and the waiting area was air conditioned comfortably on a hot day so it was a good experience.

Great service!

The guys at the Larpenteur Ave. Precision Tune keep my 2007 car rolling and in good shape. I can drive w/confidence knowing they have checked it over. They always give the options, and highest priority items, and I never feel pressured.

Questions Answered by Precision Tune Auto Care 030-01
Check charging system does that mean just ...
If your vehicle is displaying a charging system warning, we recommend having the system checked at a qualified shop. If your vehicle is not receiving a charge to the battery, your driving distance is limited. Should you have to drive it to get repaired, we recommend turning off or not using any non essential electrical components (blower motor, radio, rear defroster, etc.), as this will increase your ability to drive it to a repair facility.

We recommend fully charging the battery on a battery charger (not jumping it with another vehicle) before attempting to drive the vehicle to a repair facility.

If your Rav4 is equipped with a HomeLink transmitter, then it is integrated into the rear view mirror. You should see several buttons under the mirror glass that look like buildings (or garages). The HomeLink transmitter mirror will allow for up to three garage door openers to be programmed to it.

Based on your description, your starter may indeed be spinning, but the solenoid may not be pushing the starter drive gear out to mesh with the flex plate. We recommend removal of the starter for bench testing, and replace if it fails.

The freeze (or also called frost or expansion plugs) plugs are located on each side of the engine - there should be one for each cylinder. As for the location of a freeze plug, there should be none located behind the serpentine belt. If your coolant leak is indeed coming from behind the serpentine belt, we recommend inspecting other components of the cooling system, such as the intake manifold, water pump, or timing cover, as coolant flows through those areas as well. JB Weld is not a recommended repair for a freeze plug.

Typically, most qualified technicians replace the original freeze plug (which is usually made from steel or galvanized steel) with a brass plug, which helps prevent future corrosion. Replacing the freeze plug by itself is usually not difficult, but rather the components or parts that need to be removed to gain access to the plug.

As we live in Minnesota, we will occasionally replace the freeze plug with an engine block heater.

Each shop has their own set price on labor, so pricing will vary. However, removal of the camshaft sprocket, which the timing belt rides on, is required as the sensor is mounted behind the camshaft sprocket. A general price range would be somewhere between 350-550.

Subaru's are very well known for issues with head gaskets. As such, the symptoms you are describing can only be from one of two things, or a combination of both. Either you have a head gasket failure (vehicles can still pass the standard hydrocarbon block test which is designed for determining if there are exhaust emissions in cooling system), or you have a crack in the engine block - more specifically, in the cylinder wall, which may have caused a crack to form in the steel head gasket material.

Another way to inspect for a head gasket failure is to pressurize each cylinder with a leak down tester kit (with all valves closed) and check to see if coolant level rises in the radiator. If it does, tear down is required to completely determine level of failure.

It is not required to replace coil packs on that particular vehicle. The coil packs that this vehicle was equipped with are normally designed to last the life of the vehicle. However, we recommend inspecting for visual cracks on the coil packs themselves, and replace if any are found, as that indicates that the coil pack has overheated in the past.
