Seat heaters on GM cars are controlled by the body control module using a sophisticated Controller Area Network (CAN). If portion of the CAN network goes down, some or all of the components controlled by the network may not work. Usually this event will set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) which may or may not turn on the Check Engine Light (CEL). If the CEL is on, or even if it is not, we can scan the CAN network looking for DTC's. Once we know where the problem lies, we can diagnose the problem and clear the code to restore functionality.

There are no recalls for a check engine light that I am aware of. A check engine light simply means there is a problem. If you get a fever, you don't know if you have a simple cold or if you have a serious illness. To discover the answer to that question, you go to your doctor. A check engine light is like that, except that you go to your mechanic. With only 50,000 on the car, it is likely a simple problem, but you won't know if you don't check.

With the work that was just done, I would scan the computer for codes. This will give you a diagnostic starting point. If the problem began after the work, I would look for un-metered air. (a.k.a. vacuum leak)

The check engine light flashes when the engine is misfiring severely enough to damage the catalytic converter. This requires immediate service. I see from the information contained in your question that you have already had some ignition system work performed. That work needs to be rechecked. I would also look at fuel pressure. The gas spitting back at you is probably an unrelated problem. The tank vent is likely plugged with debris from a faulty vapor canister.
A high idle frequently indicates a vacuum leak. If the vehicle has vacuum assisted power brakes and the engine idles even faster when the brakes are applied, then a vacuum leak inside the power booster is likely.

P0420 indicates the catalytic converter is performing below a predetermined threshold. The performance is measured by the rear oxygen sensor. If the exhaust manifold is allowing air to enter the exhaust system, that excess air can mess with the measurements made by the oxygen sensor. So to answer your question directly, yes, it is possible than a manifold leak could cause a false code P0420. However, it is not likely. There is also an oxygen sensor in front of the converter. If there was excess air in the exhaust, I would expect the front 02 sensor to see the extra oxygen and set a code for exhaust too lean. If that is not happening, then excess oxygen is probably not present and therefore, not responsible for your code P0420.

There are several possible causes of the symptom you describe. The most likely is that the blower controller, aka blower resister has failed. Late model Chrysler products are known for a pattern failure of the blower controller melting due to high current flow. If this happens, replace the controller and the blower motor. The blower motor is drawing too much current which melts the controller.

If the compressor is not functioning the air conditioner will blow warm. If the system is low on refrigerant, the compressor won't turn on. Either way, no cold air. Only a detailed inspection by a qualified technician will tell for sure. Of course, if the compressor is not coming on because the system is low on refrigerant, the question is "where did the refrigerant go?" If you have a system leak, that will have to be fixed first.
