Questions Answered by Shums Auto Repair
Are The Iridium Spark Plugs Better Than Platinum? The Gap Seems To Change on 2001 GMC Sierra 2500
The iridium coating on the tip of the spark plug makes it easier for the spark to jump the gap. Iridium plugs last longer, don't put a lot of strain on the ignition coils, make better spark and save money in the long run due to longer service intervals. Definitely a better option than platinum.
My Check Engine Light Is On My Car Is Engine Speed Reduced What Could Be The Pro on 2008 Cadillac SRX
Sometimes issues with electronic throttle body assy on GM vehicles will set the Engine Power reduced light. We would need to scan the computer for trouble code and that would point us in the right direction for diagnosis.
Installed A New Fuel Pump And A New Fuel Pump Relay But Still No Gas Flowing on 2002 Jeep Liberty
You may have a wiring problem to the fuel pump or issue with computer not sending the signal to the fuel pump relay to be energized. Should be an easy thing to figure out once few tests are performed.
Inspection Not Ready (Drive Cycle) After Driving More Than 1000 Miles, Help? on 2007 Ford Expedition
Sometimes a weak battery will cause the monitors to be reset every time the car is started. Check battery condition and reserve amperage.
Autorun Lights Do Not Come On When All Perquisite Meet. on 2006 Mercury Milan
The problem may be the light sensor that is not operating properly. Vehicles Body control module would need to be checked to see why there is no command for the lights to come on.
What Might The Cost Be To Repair Timing Belt And Crank Seinsor on 2004 Hyundai XG350
For timing belt with pulleys, water pump and crankshaft position sensor it would be approximately $950-$1100 plus tax. Once we remove the old timing belt we would check if any of the from engine seals are leaking and need to be replaced.
My Car Is Making A Squealing Noise When The Ignition Starts. on 2006 Hyundai Elantra
There are a lot of things in the engine compartment that can make noise when the car is started. The best way to figure it out would be to listen to the noise with the stethoscope and see what component is making the noise. (could be accessory belt, one of the pulleys...)
I Need A Passenger Side Front Strut On A 2009 Toyota Corolla. Do I Always Change Them In Pairs Or Can I Just Change One? Also Do I Need To Align The Front End ? Richard Whiskey on 2009 Toyota Corolla
If the strut is being replaced for physical damage, you can replace just one but if it's worn, I would recommend changing both. Alignment needs to be checked after replacement.
