An appointment was made well in advance for this service. I called at 2:30 the day of service to check on the progress only to find out that my car was not even being worked on. Whats the point of making an appointment?

Have used KC regularly since we moved to Lynnwood in 1968, and they ALWAYS do quality work, efficiently and with fair and honest prices. And they go out of their way to explain what they ve done and why. And finally, they treat us like friends, not customers. They have EARNED my loyalty!!

i originally had my trucked towed to KC because it would not start. I explained to the employees that worked there that i previously had a check engine light on before the truck stop running and that i think it was related to the eventual failure. The techs told me it was a timing belt issue and the cost was about 1k to fix. I felt compelled to agree to the work because the truck was towed there even though i voiced my dissatisfaction with the costs. while the truck was fixed, the techs called me and tried to sell me on ball bearings in the clutch. I agreed because it was not alot extra but felt they were trying to upsell and take advantage of me. After getting the truck back and having it start up again, the check engine light is still on and i called KC back. I also explained there was a leak i noticed from the water pump they installed. (also felt they upsold me originally on this part) They told me they would check it out and to bring it in. After having my truck for longer than i expected, i called KC back asking what they found. They said it wasn't leaking but some leftover water (i guess didnt get cleaned up in the original work) and they did not look into my check engine. I specifically told them to check this out as it was my oriignal concern! I also told them i ran the codes and just want to know what is wrong with it. Later that day they called me back and said the 02 sensor needs to be replaced along with the catalytic converter.($700) My own research into this issue leads to serious doubts to KC's assessment. The 02 sensor in question is before the catalytic converter, so that would lead one to believe the problem is before the catalytic converter. I have already spent 1k on this old truck and i feel KC is trying to milk me for more money. My truck seems to be running fine with the exception of the check engine light. I will probably spend more time on my own researching the issue and in the future consult a different mechanic.

Mark, after reviewing your work orders, it stated that your check engine light was on, not related to the timing belt failing. We were not authorized at that time to pursue the check engine light issue. Again not related to timing belt failure.
The reason we replaced your fan clutch was to protect the new water pump. We replaced the water pump because it is partially under the timing cover, if it starts to leak coolant can get on timing belt which could cause other problems.
On your second visit we addressed your check engine light. At that time we found codes for O2 sensor and lean conditions. We also noted exhaust leaks and a hole in the cat converter. Due to the hole in the cat - it needs to be replaced.
We do stand behind all of our repairs.

sounds like you threw alot of good money at it,try taking it to a good ASE certified technician and pay for some time to get it diagnosed,it might be more cost effective
