Every GM 3.1 liter motor leaks through the intake gasket....eventually they get bad enough to cause either an overheat condition or cross-contamination of oil and can sometimes extend the life of the gasket by re-torquing it...takes a couple of hours and necessitates removal of p/s pump etc...the correct way to repair though is to replace gasket at a retail cost of around $700-$800....your timing chain is not leaking; hoever, your timing chain cover GASKET might be....these do leak occaissionly but are very rarely problematic (slight stains on the cover etc. add a quart of coolant every 2 months kind of thing...)....have the intake gasket replaced (only) at a reputable repair facilty and that motor will run for another 100k...worst case scenario is to do timing cover gasket at another time (very little "overlap" time anyways) of luck
