Ford Recalls 1998 Electric Rangers Due to Faulty Traction Battery Heater Systems

Recall Details

Ford has recalled 1998 Electric Ranger EV vehicles due to defective  traction heater systems. The heaters may have faulty wiring, which can arc and cause a fire hazard. Dealers will disable the battery pack heaters.

Summary
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY ELECTRIC PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH THE OPTIONAL TRACTION BATTERY HEATER SYSTEM. THIS BATTERY HEATER COULD HAVE A LOOSE CRIMP CONNECTION WHERE THE POWER WIRES ARE ATTACHED TO ONE OF THE HEATER ELEMENTS.
Consequence
THE LOOSE CONNECTION COULD ARC IGNITING SURROUNDING MATERIALS.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL DISABLE THE BATTERY PACK HEATERS.
