Recall 96V082000

Rear Axle U-Bolt Nuts Loosen

Recall Details

The nuts for the U-bolts that secure the rear axle to the frame may loosen and detach, causing the axle to shift and disrupt proper control of the vehicle while driving. Dealers will check the U-bolt nut torque and re-torque any loose U-bolts to the proper specification free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The bolts that secure the axle to the frame could loosen and the nuts could fall off, resulting in the axle moving and disrupting vehicle control.

What Should You Do?

Recalls on your General Motors truck must be performed by a General Motors dealership. General Motors began notifying known owners of affected vehicles when the recall was announced, in May 1996. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealers below. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
