Engine Cooling Fan Overheats And Seizes Causing Fire Hazard

Recall Details

The cooling fan of the vehicle equipped with either a 3.0L Diesel or a 3.6L gasoline engine may seize and overheat, causing a fire hazard. The manufacturer is developing a remedy to repair this concern as of the time of this writing. This remedy, when available will be performed free of charge to affected vehicles to resolve any concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Ram truck must be performed by a Ram dealership. Fiat Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in January, 2020. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ram dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Fiat Chrysler recall number is VB2.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ram ProMaster vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel or 3.6L gasoline engines and air conditioning (A/C). The engine cooling fan may seize which can cause the cooling fan motor to overheat.
An overheated fan motor increases the risk of a fire.
The remedy for this recall is still under development. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk are scheduled to begin mailing on or before January 4, 2020. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is VB2.
