Front Cross Member Corrodes And Weakens Due To Road Salt Exposure

Recall Details

For vehicles sold or ever registered in certain cold weather states, the front cross member of the vehicle may corrode from exposure to road salt. This can cause the member to weaken and affect proper wheel alignment of the vehicle, increasing risk of an accident. Dealers will inspect the cross member and either install a side member and drain hose and apply wax to protect it from rust, or install a drain hose and an improved cross member free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The front cross member in the front suspension of the vehicle may corrode due to exposure to road salt. This recall is limited to vehicles sold or registered in certain cold weather states. If the cross member corrodes, it will weaken and can change the steering alignment, increasing risk of a crash.
