Recall 18V275000

Trailer Tow Module Shorts From Water Intrusion

Recall Details

Water intrusion to the trailer tow module may result in corroded wiring that causes electrical shorts. Concerns with the turn signals, instrument panel and seat belt pretensioner may occur as a result. Dealers will add a drainage hole in the driver's door step well and incorporate a fuse into the vehicle's wiring harness to protect the circuit free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

Water may enter the trailer tow module of equipped vehicles and cause corrosion to its wiring. This can result in a electrical short that causes the turn signals to flash rapidly, the instrument panel display to fail, and possibly the deployment of the seat belt pretensioner. This all increases risk of a crash.
