Recall Details

The power steering electric motor may not have been properly welded, resulting in the possible loss of power steering assist. Dealers will replace the electric power steering rack free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recall repairs on your Mercedes Benz vehicle must be performed by a Mercedes Benz dealership. Mercedes Benz will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Mercedes Benz dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2016-2017 C300 vehicles. The electrical contacts for the power steering electric motor may not have been properly welded, possibly resulting in a loss of electrical contact.
Consequence
A loss of electrical contact will cause the electric power steering assist to deactivate, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the electric power steering rack, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in June 2017. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
