The driver's knee air bag may not inflate properly in an accident. Dealers will replace the driver's knee air bag module free of charge to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Jeep must be performed by a Jeep dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Jeep dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is S84.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles manufactured October 13, 2016, to October 17, 2016. Improper welds on the driver's knee air bag inflator may prevent the air bag from properly inflating.
Consequence
If the driver's knee air bag does not properly inflate, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's knee air bag module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 18, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S84.
