Air Conditioning Line Contacting Exhaust Manifold Causing Fire

Recall Details

The air conditioning suction/discharge hose may contact the exhaust manifold, causing a fire hazard. Dealers will inspect the routing of the air conditioning hose and replace the hose, correcting the installation routing free of charge to resolve the concern.

A hose that carries air conditioning refrigerant may be mis-routed and may inadvertently contact the exhaust manifold. This can cause a fire hazard.

What Should You Do?

Recalls on your Jeep must be performed by a Jeep dealership. Jeep will notify owners of affected vehicles (a timetable for this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Jeep dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jeep Cherokee vehicles manufactured October 1, 2014, to June 18, 2015. The affected vehicles may have a misrouted air conditioning suction/discharge hose.
Consequence
If the line is misrouted, it may contact the exhaust manifold, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the routing of the air conditioning hose. Any hose that is misrouted will be replaced and installed correctly. This work will be performed free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R57.
