Brakes Apply Unexpectedly Using Adaptive Cruise Control Feature

Recall Details

The brakes may unexpectedly apply while using the adaptive cruise control feature. The system may erroneously detect an object in the path of the vehicle.  Dealers will reprogram the cruise control module with updated radar software free of charge to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford notified known owners of affected vehicles beginning in October, 2015. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 15S29.

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured March 18, 2014, to August 6, 2015 and equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). While using the Adaptive Cruise Control, the vehicle may falsely detect an obstacle in its path and may unexpectedly apply the brakes.
Consequence
A vehicle that unexpectedly brakes increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the cruise control module with updated ACC radar software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 19, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S29.
