The abutting wedge which makes door opening easier after a severe frontal collision may be installed improperly. Dealers will check the installation of the wedge correcting it as necessary to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recalls on your Sprinter must be performed by a Sprinter dealership. Sprinter notified owners of affected vehicles beginning in March, 2015. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Sprinter dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC - DBA Sprinter (Sprinter) is recalling certain model year 2015 Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles manufactured July 1, 2014, to October 14, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the abutting wedge, a component attached to the door jam to make opening the door easier after a severe frontal impact, may have been installed incorrectly.
If a vehicle that has an incorrectly installed abutting wedge is involved in a severe frontal accident, a greater force may be necessary to open the doors, increasing the risk of injury.
Sprinter will notify owners, and dealers will check the installation of the abutting wedge, correcting it as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in March 2015. Owners may contact Sprinter customer service at 1-877-762-8267.
