An Under Hood Fire Could Occur

Recall Details

Most modern engine are have a cosmetic cover on top of the engine. On these vehicles, this cover can trap an excessive amount of heat, resulting in an under hood fire. Dealers will replace the engine cover with a revised design to correct this concern.

What Should You Do?

Chrysler will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles during May 2013. If you notice any abnormal smell from under the hood, or you don't receive notification and you believe you should have, please contact your local dealer. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Chrysler recall number is N19.

Summary
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks manufactured January 7, 2013, through March 6, 2013. The engine cover may trap an excessive amount of heat under the cover.
Consequence
The excessive heat under the engine cover may result in an under hood fire.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the existing engine cover with one that is a different design, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during May 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N19.
