Toyota Recalls 2010 Tacomas Due to Cracks in Propeller Shaft

Recall Details

Toyota is recalling 2010 Tacoma pickup models due to potential cracks in the propeller shaft that occurred during manufacturing. Over time, the cracks could lead to separation of the propeller shaft, which can result in a loss of control and an increase in the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the front propeller shaft free of charge.

Summary
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP TRUCKS. THE PROPELLER SHAFT MAY DEVELOP CRACKS DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. OVER TIME, THE CRACKS MAY EVENTUALLY LEAD TO THE SEPARATION OF THE PROPELLER SHAFT.
Consequence
THIS MAY RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ON AFFECTED VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
