Tire Bead May Have Been Damaged During Assembly

Recall Details

The bead of the tire may have been damaged when the tire was mounted on the wheel assembly. Over time, a bulge may form on the tire sidewall due to the damaged bead. Air may also leak from the area of the damaged bead, increasing the risk of tire failure, which could result in a crash. Dealers will inspect the tires and replace them as necessary. This recall is scheduled to begin on March 27, 2006. The Toyota recall number is SCC 60A.

ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS, THE BEAD OF THE TIRE MAY BE DAMAGED DUE TO IMPROPER ASSEMBLY OF THE TIRES ONTO THE WHEELS.
Consequence
IF THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED IN THIS CONDITION, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A BULGE MAY BE FORMED ON THE SIDEWALL AND AIR MAY LEAK FROM THE AREA OF THE DAMAGED BEAD AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TIRES AND REPLACE IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
