Rear window defroster does not work?

rear window defroster does not work but light on the dash comes on.

I have a 1999 buick lesabre . I checked the fuse and a relay plug. Both were ok. Then I removed the rear cloth cover on the passenger side to check the wiring . There is a unit for the wiring and also the antenna cable . T he entry wire was burnt and so was the unit it plugs into. The unit number is GM 25623688. I believe this gadget was put there to prevent radio interference. I got the part from pullapart and repaired the wiring. Works fine!

I had the same experience.
First check the fuse, then also check the relay. Both were OK in my case.
The light on the heater switch came on. I could also hear the relay click if I listened closely (with the panel below the glove box removed).
I checked the voltage at the rear window, where the heating element is soldered to 2 wires. No voltage was measured, with the defogger switch on. So I concluded it was the module.
I removed the interior panel and took out the module
Sure enough, it was "fried".
