Rear hatch want lock

My 2002 GMC Envoy rear door hatch will not lock and the window will not open

Pushrod is right on, if that does not fix it and the latch just seems to be no "latching" it could be a internal latch failure, or the linkage that goes to the latch from the handle or lock actuator has become stiff or seized and holding the latch in the "open" position. If that is the case you would need to have the interior panel removed to gain access to all the linkage. There are alot of special fasteners, unless you have the special pry tools you may want to leave this to the professionals to help prevent damage to the interior panel occurring. Hello Andy, I think my question was miss understood, the hatch will close but will not lock and the window part of hatch will not open.Also the back hatch dose not have a key insert to lock or unlock door
