On July 22, 2015, Ram recalled 1,060,531 Ram 1500. Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks manufactured january 18, 2011, to october 7, 2014, and equipped with the electronic vehicle information center option. the affected vehicles have a steering wheel wiring harness that may rub against the driver air bag module retainer spring.

A short circuit in a wiring harness may develop, resulting in the unexpected deployment of the driver's frontal air bag without warning. This would increase risk of a crash, and increase risk of occupant injury.

Recall repairs on your Ram truck must be performed by a Ram dealership. Chrysler notified known owners of affected vehicles beginning in September, 2015. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ram dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is R36.

Due to a loose fastener, the rear axle may lock-up (stop turning) unexpectedly and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash.
