how to set the timing on my tdi

The timing has to be set with special tools that hold the camshaft in a particular position. This sets the initial timing, the timing is then set by use of a laptop connected to your car to give feedback of true injection pump timing. The injection pump is then rotated to achieve the correct timing. This is a bit of a basic answer. Sorry.
