Please help - I just replaced my distributor cap, ignition rotor, spark plugs and wires, and fuel filter over the last 48 hours. Yesterday, it stalled while waiting at a red light and was towed to my house. I had just purchased all the parts for the above described repair during this trip. I have also replaced the knock sensor, timing belt, alternator, mass, egr valve solenoid, several relays, vacuum hoses, battery, air filter, oil filter, 2 o2 sensors, muffler and resonator. The car started briefly today following the spark plug, wire replacement, distributor cap and ignition rotor repair, but repeated engine rotation w/o turning over as before. I scanned my car again yesterday and found no codes. I had emissions work done on the vehicle 1 month ago and passed the test. Any ideas? Also, for about four months I have noticed odd erratic engine idling at lights and in slow traffic and some odd almost choking during acceleration.

There's coolant going to your cylinders So your catylic converter is clogged when you accelerate it choked cuz all that water building up at the catylic converter to be clogged If you wanna try and open up your catylic converter see if you try starts it and feel if theres a massive air flow when accelerate Do it when it's cold start Most common on this cars are clogged converter cuz the way how the lower intake manifold is so closed to the port of injectors and once that gasket is crack the water will flow to the injector port to the cylinder. Have a mechanic do this
Timing chain i bet!
How about the belt jumped (I think the Maximas used chains by then , but the truck is still listed as a belt). That's what I'm leaning toward , but no bet!
belt was changed - what next?
no coolant was found - what next?
Okay Do compression test on each cylinder
