What is your question?
No smoke no leaking ,plenty of fluid. turning on the heater doesn’t help, when the car is in motion or at a regular speed. The gauge drops to average temperature but sitting at a light or accelerating causes the gauge to rise.. car still blows cold air and heat when using cabin temperature settings. No noises or smell. Temperature gauge rises to maximum within 2 blocks of driving. Infinite q50 2015. I previously had this problem before in the winter and it only happened twice, but then it went back to normal and it hasn’t done it for a few months and now it’s doing it again in the summer but it has been over 100° outside so I didn’t know if that had something to do with it. I was believing that maybe my thermostat was stuck in the closed position, but I don’t want to spend the money and have my boyfriend fix the thermostat if these problems seem to be related to something else
How long has your 2015 INFINITI Q50 had this problem?

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. If your Q50's temperature gauge is reading hot but there are no other signs of overheating, there are a few possibilities. While the sensor may be malfunctioning, typically they are designed to fail at a max hot or max cool reading and the gauge wouldn't be fluctuating. Assuming the gauge is reading correctly, you may have a stuck closed thermostat or even a water pump with a damaged impeller that does not allow the coolant to circulate. Also, if you have had any work done to the vehicle, there could be an air pocket in the cooling system. Because high temperatures can damage your engine quickly, I would recommend getting this checked out before it causes any other problems. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
