we were driving home the other day when my car started to smoke. we opened the hood to let it cool out. he then checked it out and it had no transmission fluid, and no coolant so that's maybe y it overheated? we got it to start and drove it to a nearby friend's house. we bought those stuff and tried starting it again and it started and the guage was no longer going on hot but the coolant was still being spit out so we turned it off and when we were turning it back on it wouldnt start but it's still acting like it wants to. do you think this is a minor or major issue?

sounds like a head gasket from overheating as you described. it is a major repair but you need a shop to confirm. Roy
The thermostat is stuck in the clolsed position. It is a pretty easy fix and should only cost you around $20 to $30 dollars providing that you have the right tools to put it in, the tools are very basic.
