2003 accord ex makes thump when moving in reverse or forward moving in 1st gear only

automatic 2003 accord ex after moving car in drive have to go slow taking off or loud thump will be before speeding up. It also does this when moving in reverse real slow

What makes this problem better or worse?

take off too fast or in reverse too fast
