Could be a bad fan or the coolant temperature sensor is not reading. You can try jumping, sending power directly to the fan, to see if fan turns on. Also, try turning the AC on, that should turn fan on.
Thank You, also one more thing. Its weird and only has done this about a handful of times. I get home shut Nitro off, then come out maybe a little while later or even the next morning and the cooling fan is running, no key in ignition, key FOB wouldn't unlock the doors when it was doing this. Had to use key in door. and start the Nitro and then turn off and cooling fan would quit.
The coolant temp sensor sends signal to computer to turn on the fan. Sensor may not be working, reading. Therefore the computer does not know when to turn the fan on or off. Just a hunch.
Need Help Also my 2008 Dodge Nitro over heating ..Replaced water pump and Thermostat but still overheating...?? Plus when over heated the coolant level is still the same an o notice the fan ain't spinning when u first start vehicle too ??

This makes partial sense but if the key is not on, how is there power going to it? I am electronicly challenged. Mechanically inclined.
