The AC in my Voyager stopped working two years ago. The dealership told me it would cost $3000 to repair, so I opted for the 4/60 solution - four open windows, 60 mph. Since then, the dealership went out of business and several people said the price was too high. What is a more likely price?

The cost to repair air conditioning is totally dependent what has failed or caused failure. Initially the system will need to have a charge put in it to determine if the compressor is OK and then to check the system for leaks. The system then needs to be evacuated to see if it will hold a vacuum and fix any leaks found. the dryer will have to be replaced (it keeps moisture out of the system) and then the system refilled with refrigerant. Its never a cheap repair and if not done right the system will only work for a short period of time. You have to call around and see who you think will be most competent at a fair price.
