what would make my truck start ok when cold but when hot - starts stalls, and then starts

I'd check your fuel pressure regulator, what happens when these fail is when you shut your vehicle off fuel continues to go into the cylinders for a very short time but just long enough to flood them out and it will be hard starting it will start but tends to be harder than when the vehicle is cold as when it's cold after sitting for a long time the fuel evaporates and this problem is no longer an issue.
