Problems with my 5 speed tranny

(1991 Ford Ranger)

my 1991 ford ranger 2.3 5speed tranny has done something weird.it kinda locked up on me on the freeway.i can shift into differtn gears but when i put it in neutral i hear a grinding noise and it wants to roll.does anyone have a clue?thanks

Locked up on you as in...what happened?

Hearing a noise in neutral can be the throwout bearing making noise...which is part of the slave cylinder in the bell housing of the transmission, which is really succeptable to failure anyway on this particular transmission anyway... I would suggest someone checking it with you locally.
