Power steering rack boots

(1999 Mercury Sable)
How can I tell if I need power steering rack boots and, if so, is it an expensive repair?
Thanks.

If the boots are torn or leaking, you need new ones. I can't say what it'll cost but if you go to a Ford specialist, or an alignment shop, you can get an estimate.
