Power Steering

(1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue)
in Broken Arrow, OK on April 06, 2010
The car was having a very difficult time turning left. Local shop diagnosed as P/S pump failure. To save my kid some money I replaced the pump with a salvage unit and the hose as well. Now the steering is very difficult off of center at low speeds, but seems to be fine above 20MPH. The salvage hose did not have a pressure sensor port as the OEM did. Could the hose be the issue or did I get a bad salvage pump?

when you said turning left was the issue, was the right turn good? if it was then you have a failed steering rack. if it was both sides, then the pump may be the problem. did you bleed the pump after installing? if you did, you may need a new pump. they run about 75 to 100 depending if it has a tank with the new unit or if you have to change your old tank to the new one.
