Q: overdrive off light flashes for a few weeks, then turns off. on 1995 Ford Explorer

Most likely there is a fault code stored. The transmission and engine are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Find PCM on the scanner list and do key on, engine off and key on engine running tests. If there are any transmission codes, they should show up there.
I will surely try this. An earlier suggestion I received about an air conditioning compressor proved to be correct. and saved me over $800.I will look into purchasing a scanner for this model vehicle. Engine tag states that it is equipt with a OBD1. Hope I can still purchase this model for 95 ford explorer. Thanks
