Our engine sputters/shakes when I push the accelerator down. Any idea why?

Typically happens when you're trying to accelerate quickly. The check engine light, which is already on, flashes when the engine starts to sputter and shake at the acceleration. The sputter goes away fairly quickly (w/in 30 seconds).

Usually secondary ignition, Plug Wires, get a tune up.

Thank you! What costs should I expect for each of those?

Depends on what quality you get and where you get them. Oreillys are over $100.00 for a set of good ones.

I've never put in any wires, ignition, or spark plugs. Is this something I can/should do myself or have a shop work on for me?

I would say it is easy, but I've had helpers that could really screw anything up. You might check YouTube videos and search plug wire replacement to see if you can get an idea of what to do.

tbh if you don't know what you are doing then i would bring it in cause you could unplug something or mess with something and your car stop working so its better to be safe than sorry you.
