Is it common in the Saturn to have to add 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles??

This is too much oil consumption for any vehicle. Make sure your using the correct oil, you may want to go with one of the oils designed for high mileage engines.

yes, saturns are known to burn oil. I switched my saturn to synthetic oil, and I have to add waay less oil now!
