in Old Saybrook, CT on March 05, 2011
my vehicles engine is running perfect, auto trans is changing properly and smoothly, o/d is turning on and off properly, light flashes after a while driving and has been doing it for quite some time, last gearbox person i spoke to said it was a canary in the electronics, need more of an answer, had the obd 2 system checked once and no code came up, any suggestions.

Checking the OBDII system is the same as checking a transmission. Transmission codes start with P also and get pulled along with engine performance codes. Something tells me that you are going to need a qualified technician with quality equipment on hand to check your Explorer's concern. The Overdrive light flashing will absolutely leave codes which will provide clues to get a direction for diagnosis and repair.

you need to talk to someone who knows what he is talking about. you have a trans code for a fault and you need a real scan tool at a shop, not an obd code puller as they only pull engine codes. go to a trans shop and have them check it for you.

roy,
my mistake, was not the obd 2 system that was checked, was the trans that was scanned, no fault, still need your advise.
kind regards, hunting.08
