The O/D light at times flashes after a period of driving. Is it a sensor, wiring, or transmision problem?

The flashing light is indicating there was a fault detected by the transmission control module. There are tens, if not hundreds of possibilities, so it's important that the diagnostic codes are checked and diagnosed to determine the fault.
