As a Gold Shield Smog tech doing work for the State of California, it is illegal to use a 'universal' oxygen sensor, especially in a 1999 OBD-II car. the specs are so tight that an OEM spec Oxygen sensor s really needed or the car comes back in about 90 days. the reason they are illegal in CA is to prevent Shops form cutting corners when they repair an Emissions Problem. It is to PROTECT the customer form having to pay twice for the same job!!

what happens with the o2 sensors is that once one of then goes the other one is not far behind so is suggested to get then replace at the same time you can use a universal part however sometimes they don't work and you have to get the OEM Part
