(2003 Volvo S60)

I AM NOT ABLE TO PUT CAR IN REVERSE. WHEN TURNED OFF, WITH IGNITION TURNED, I HEAR A SOUND UNDER THE HOOD, . WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, ITS A LITTLE STIFF AND TIGHT. I HEARD IT MAY BE THE BRAKE SWITCH?

Hello,
When you say you can't put it in reverse, do yo mean that you can't take the gear shifter out of drive? This could be a brake light switch, but possibly the electrical solenoid that controls the shift lock. These however shouldn't cause any noise or braking issues. It sounds like you have several issues and should have it inspected by a Volvo/European shop.
Good Luck

Hey Cassie,
This may be due to the temperature change, but I doubt it's from the fluid, I think it's more likely an electrical issue with the brake switch, shift lock solenoid or an issue with the shift lock cable. If it continues I would have it looked at by a shop that has the proper equipment to read out all the diagnostic information in the vehicle (some diagnostic codes can be stored if the shift lock system is malfunctioning). Good Luck
