How extensive is the replacement of the pully for the fan belt or the timing belt? What causes the pully to loosen or become out of sync?

Any time you service the timing belt (every 80,000 miles) it is recommended that you replace the tensioner, pulleys and belt as a set. The extra money for the set is worth it. About 100.00 more.
